Each of these beautiful earrings features a 6.5mm white freshwater cultured pearl and 5 diamonds set in 14K white gold.
Like south sea pearls which occur naturally in oysters, freshwater pearls occur naturally in mussels. Freshwater pearls are farmed in varieties of freshwater mussels such as Hyriopsis & Cristaria whose shells can produce up to 100 pearls simultaneously. Freshwater pearls are not marketable in their natural state and do require some artificial enhancements. However, new farming & pearl enhancement technology has enabled the freshwater pearls to be produced in a more rounded state and in an array of colors.
