A native Irishman, Hennessey moved to the states with his family when he was a young boy. He became a very popular artist among the poets and he took on a very romantic poetic style in his paintings. The Pride of Dijon shows two people conversing on a romantic secluded deck. The man almost seems to be pleading to the young woman for her love.
